About This Place

Located in the heart of downtown Nashville, The Diner Nashville is an exceptional dining destination that effortlessly blends comfort with culinary creativity. This multifaceted restaurant offers an extensive menu that caters to a diverse palate, ranging from classic Southern favorites to fresh seafood and innovative sushi selections, all served in a vibrant yet inviting atmosphere.

The Diner excels especially with its Southern-inspired dishes, including their celebrated Nashville Hot Chicken and Waffle—a perfect balance of crispy, spicy chicken layered atop a fluffy, golden waffle, delivering a harmonious interplay of heat and sweetness that lingers in the best way possible. Equally indulgent is their Shrimp and Grits, featuring spicy jumbo shrimp draped in a luscious BBQ butter sauce sitting over smoky gouda grits that offer a velvety texture with every bite. Each dish here tells a story of rich Southern culinary heritage but with a modern, inventive twist.

For those craving steak, the 10 oz. USDA Choice NY Strip is a crowd-pleaser, perfectly seared and finished with the chef’s signature zip sauce, served alongside savory home fries that add a comfort-food touch to the plate. The menu's breadth is impressive—from the bold, spicy notes of the Rattlesnake Pasta with its creamy spicy alfredo sauce and tender roasted chicken, to the crisp oysters on the half shell, showcasing freshness that seafood lovers will appreciate.

The Diner’s breakfast and brunch offerings are equally irresistible. Customers rave about the Hot Chicken and Biscuits and the California Breakfast Sandwich, both of which highlight fresh, quality ingredients and a dedication to flavor without overwhelming greasiness. Creative cocktails and boozy shakes complement the meals, with selections like the bright and invigorating Bloody Mary adding an extra layer of delight to the dining experience.

The atmosphere here strikes a perfect balance between laid-back comfort and lively energy—a sentiment echoed by regulars who find The Diner is just right for a weekend gathering with friends or a laid-back family brunch. Ate on 4th floor for lunch yesterday. Had classic cheeseburger and fries. It was good but not great. Service and atmosphere were great.

I had a solid brunch experience that I’d definitely recommend to anyone looking for a chill spot to enjoy good food. The atmosphere was laid-back yet lively, perfect for a weekend outing with friends or family. The menu had a nice variety of options, from classic brunch staples to more unique offerings. One standout item for me was definitely the pretzels. They were soft, warm, and perfectly salted on the outside, with a fluffy inside that made them incredibly satisfying. The accompanying dip—whether cheese, mustard, or both—was flavorful and complemented the pretzels perfectly. You could tell they were freshly made, and they had that comforting, homemade feel that elevates a simple dish into something special. Aside from the pretzels, the rest of the meal was well-executed. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the food came out at just the right pace. Drinks were solid, too—whether you’re into coffee, juice, or brunch cocktails, there’s something for everyone. Overall, it was a great spot that balanced quality, comfort, and a welcoming vibe. If you’re in the area and looking for a dependable brunch place, this one should definitely be on your list. And seriously—don’t skip the pretzels.

My wife, son and I came for breakfast. Let me start out that this is NOT a cook to order restaurant. For example, they can only do scrambled eggs. Having said that, the food was good and, because it is not cook to order, it comes out almost immediately. The toast was thick - no cheap thin white bread - and tasty. My son had the chicken and waffle and he liked it. My wife would have liked eggs over easy tho. I would recommend if you're in downtown Nashville and looking for a place to eat. It's a very interesting multi-level restaurant on six different floors.

Coffee was absolutely amazing- check the menu above the bar before sitting because they have some fantastic options and boozy shakes! We had breakfast 2 mornings because the service was great and there wasn't any wait. Excellent food, very fresh and not greasy!
